Rethink Your Lawn! Tips fro helping your soil, supporting pollinators, feeding your family, and fighting climate change
By Corey Hagelberg and Melissa Washburn
“The lawn is the standard view as you drive through most neighborhoods; a uniform layer of grass that has little or no life. Have you ever looked at a lawn and thought, “Why does it have to be so boring?” Not only can your lawn be more beautiful, it can feed your family, be a rich wildlife habitat, help you create a micro-enterprise, bring your community together, and help fight climate change.
The UN’s IPCC report* warns that we must act quickly to avoid devastating effects from climate change. Land management, farming, and lawns are major contributors due to fossil fuels, food transport, and use of chemicals. This book is designed to give you ideas for how you can help right in your own backyard!”
This coloring book, produced in cooperation with Calumet Artist Residency in Northwest Indiana, provides tips and resources for making your lawn more environmentally friendly by planting native plants, fruit and vegetable gardening, composting, and planning community spaces. It includes 12 beautifully illustrated pages to color, and is fun and educational for all ages.
For every book sold, we will donate a book to a local school or nonprofit.
